Our Story

How It All Began

Cats & Cobie was founded in Lahore out of a simple but powerful belief — that no cat should suffer alone on the street. What started as one person stopping to help one injured cat grew into a full rescue operation serving cats across the city.

The name "Cobie" belongs to the cat who started it all. Found injured and frightened, Cobie's recovery became the spark that ignited a mission. From that moment, there was no turning back.

Today, Cats & Cobie rescues street cats from across Lahore, provides them with full veterinary care, and finds them carefully vetted forever homes. We also run an accessories shop to fund our rescue work.

Careful Rehoming

We take adoption seriously. Every family is thoroughly screened to ensure our cats go to safe, loving, and prepared homes — and we stay in touch after adoption.

Community Education

We actively educate the Lahore community about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, and how to coexist kindly with street animals.

Long-Term Impact

Our goal is not just to rescue individual cats but to reduce the stray cat population in Lahore through sustained rescue, TNR programs, and awareness campaigns.

The Person Behind It All

Meet the Founder

Kashf Akhtar is a Lahore-based animal welfare advocate who has dedicated years of her life to rescuing and rehoming street cats. Her journey began with a single cat — Mini — and has since grown into a full-scale rescue operation.

With no formal training but an abundance of love and determination, Kashf built Cats & Cobie from the ground up — coordinating rescues, managing veterinary care, screening adopters, and running the organisation largely on her own in the early years.

What We Do

From the moment a cat is rescued to the day they find their forever home — we are with them every step of the way.

Street Rescue

We respond to reports of injured, sick, or abandoned cats across Lahore and bring them to safety as quickly as possible.

Veterinary Care

Every rescued cat receives a full veterinary examination, necessary treatment, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgery before being considered for adoption.

Fostering & Socialisation

Cats are placed in loving foster homes to recover, build confidence, and learn to live comfortably with people before adoption.

Adoption

We carefully match each cat with the right family through a thorough screening process and provide full post-adoption support.

Accessories Shop

Our online shop sells quality cat accessories — all profits go directly towards funding our rescue operations.

How Far We've Come

From one rescued cat to a growing organisation — every milestone has been built on love.

Year One

It Started with Mini

Our founder rescued her first street cat — Mini — from the streets of Lahore. After nursing her back to health, the seed of Cats & Cobie was planted.

Year Two

First 50 Rescues

Word spread through the Lahore community. Volunteers joined, veterinary partnerships were formed, and the first 50 cats were rescued, treated, and rehomed.

Year Three

Shop Launch & 100+ Adoptions

We launched our accessories shop to create a sustainable funding stream. By the end of the year, over 100 cats had found their forever homes through Cats & Cobie.

Today

200+ Cats Rescued & Growing

With over 200 rescues, 150+ adoptions, and a growing community of supporters, Cats & Cobie continues to grow — one cat at a time.
